 Description  
 Number Base:  The base in a numeration system is the number of symbols used to represent the numbers in the system.

For example, in the decimal system, we use the symbols 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 to form numbers. Since there are 10 symbols, the system is called base 10. In the binary sytem, the symbols 0 and 1 are used to form numbers. There are 2 symbols in this system, which is a base 2 system.
