 Description
Random Sample:  A sample chosen from a population such that each data unit in the population has an equal chance of being chosen each time.

For example, assume that there are 10 people in a group. Their names are Al, Ben, Carol, Damion, Ed, Frank, Greg, Hank, Izzy, and Jill. Suppose we are to pick three of the people to give a survey. We assign each person a number from 1 to 10: 1 = Al, 2 = Ben, 3 = Carol, 4 = Damion, 5 = Ed, 6 = Frank, 7 = Greg, 8 = Hank, 9 = Izzy, 10 = Jill. Then we let our spreadsheet program on our computer randomly pick three numbers for us. If the computer picks numbers 5, 1, and 9, then we give the surveys to Ed, Al, and Izzy.
