 Scatterplot:  The graph of a collection of ordered pairs that allows an exploration of the relationship between the points.

Sometimes we want to see how changing one variable affects another variable. A good way to visualize the effect that changing one variable has on another is the scatter plot.

Here is an example of a scatter plot that shows how the quality and price of different brands of peanut butter compare. We might want to know if price is determined by the quality rating. So, by looking at the scatter plot, does the price of a peanut butter increase or decrease as the quality rating increases?
