 Angle of Rotation:  The number of degrees that a figure is rotated about a fixed point.





The original image is the square labeled ABDC. The image after rotating the square 45 degrees (counterclockwise) about its center gives the square labeled A'B'D'C'.

 








The original image is the square labeled ABDC. The image after rotating the square 45 degrees (counterclockwise) about the point P is the square labeled A'B'D'C'. Note that point P is outside the square.











In the above example, the angle of rotation is the angle APA'. This is the same as the angle CPC'.
