Dilation:  A transformation that changes the size of an object, but not the shape.

Models are a dilation of a real object. For example, a toy car is a dilation of an actual car because the proportional dimensions on the model are equivalent to the proportions on the car. In other words, if the length of the car is 4 times longer than its width on the model, then the length of the car will also be 4 times longer than its width on the actual car.
