 Factorial:  The expression n! is a symbol to indicate the product of all counting numbers beginning with n and counting backwards to 1.

The number of ways to appoint positions to a group of people on a committe is n!. For example, if 4 people are on a committee, then there are 4x3x2x1=24 ways to assign responsibilities.

If 5 people are on a basketball team, then there are 5!, or 120, arrangements of players on the floor at any given time.
