 Random Sample:  A sample chosen from a population such that each data unit in the population has an equal chance of being chosen each time.
Random samples are used to test conditions of a population. In this picture, a random sample of the food being processed is removed from the production line. Quality control tests canít possibly check all batches of food, so random samples are selected for testing.

A quality control employee tests the food before it is sent out to the stores.
