 Commutative Property of Multiplication:  The product of a group of numbers is the same regardless of the order in which the numbers are arranged.

To find the amount of carpeting or tiling needed for a rectangular room, you need to multiply the length of the room by its width, or you can multiply the width of a room by its length. Essentially, it doesn't matter in what order you multiply the dimensions. Either way, you will get the same answer.
