M8N1:  Students will understand different representations of numbers including square roots, exponents, and scientific notation.

a. Find square roots of perfect squares.

i. Simplify expressions containing integer exponents.

k. Use appropriate technologies to solve problems involving square roots, exponents, and scientific notation.
 

a. Students will be finding the square roots of perfect squares – it will be helpful to look at smaller numbers in the same symmetric pattern and their square roots.

i. Exponents can be discussed when you are talking about taking the square root.

k. This will be done if a calculator or spreadsheet program is used for this investigation.
