Analyzing Test Scores

A college professor decided to grade his tests on a curve using the following criteria.

2 or more SD's above mean A
1-1.99 SD's above mean B
0-0.99 SD's above mean C
0-0.99 SD's below mean C
1-1.99 SD's below mean D
2 or more SD's below mean F

Given the following stem-and-leaf plot, find out how many students will receive each grade.

5 5 9
6 8
7 3 4 9
8 2 5 5 5 7 8 8 8
9 1 1 1 5 7 9

Extension: Based on a 10-point scale where 90-100 is an A, 80-89 is a B, 70-79 is a C, 60-69 is a D and below 59 is an F, is this professor's curve fair or unfair? Who benefits from the curve? Who is hurt by the curve?
