Penning for Pony

By

Angela Wenger

To make a pen for his new pony, Ted will use an existing fence as one side of the pen. If he has ninety-six meters of fencing, what are the dimensions of the largest rectangular pen he can make?

Ted is going to take part of his existing fence to create a new fence for his pony. One side of the rectangular fence is already in place. One way to solve this problem is to create a spreadsheet in excel which will allow you to show the maximum value of the area of the fence, which will give you the largest dimensions of the fence.
