Day II. Tuesday (June 3, 2003)

Morning Session

A. Participants engage in the Circle investigations

Participants should choose investigations that involve:

    • Describing and comparing the concepts and attributes of a circle (e.g. radius, diameter, center, chord, major arc, minor arc)
    • Solving problems involving the area and circumference of circles
    • Making graphical representations of circles using dynamic geometry software
Choose from recommended investigations focused on circles

B. Continued technological teaching and support (especially with Geometer's Sketchpad and the structure of a write-up)

C. Participants focus on investigations that specifically address inductive and deductive logic and those that deal with measurement systems conversions.

Participants should choose investigations that involve:

  • Comparing, contrasting, and using inductive and deductive logic
  • Provide exposure to both metric and English measurement systems and conversions within them.
  1. Choose from Logic Investigations

  2. Explore English and Metric Measurement systems

 D. Journal

Afternoon Session
