Day IV. Thursday (June 5, 2003)

Morning Session

A. Participants engage in investigations of Quadrilaterals

Participants should choose investigations that involve:

    • Describing and defining the characteristics of quadrilaterals
    • Solving problems involving the area and perimeter of quadrilaterals
    • Using inductive or deductive reasoning to find a solution
    • Graphically representing quadrilaterals and other related geometric figures
Choose from investigations focused on the properties of quadrilaterals as well as perimeter and area of quadrilaterals

B. Participants engage in investigations of Polygons

Participants should choose investigations that involve:

    • Classifying polygons according to their characteristics (e.g. regular, convex, concave, congruent)
    • Solving problems about the area and perimeter of polygons
    • Visually representing polygons using dynamic geometry software

Engage in a variety of investigations of polygons and their properties
